Attorney David W. Foley has been specializing in estate planning since 1990. His years of experience practicing various types of law in Indiana and California led him to concentrate in this one area, which he finds fulfilling because he’s helping families protect their inheritance for their loved ones. He says: “There is great satisfaction in giving clients the straightforward living trusts that they want!” A true Hoosier, Dave attended both Notre Dame and Marion University, and received his law degree from Indiana University.
Dave’s roots are in Ireland. His grand parents emigrated from there to escape poverty. For the next many decades, the Foleys made Indiana home (some still do), becoming part of the fabric of this country. In 1980, Dave, Nancy, and their four young children completed the ancestral journey by moving to California. They have settled in San Diego: Erin (attorney), Sheila (para-legal), and Tim (legal assistant, marketing) all working with Dave in his law practice; Nancy, a poet ,and their other daughter, Katie, a special needs teacher. The family has grown seven grandchildren.
Attorney Erin C. Foley has been working with her father in estate planning since 2004. Erin concentrates on Probate cases in addition to creating estate plans. She graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2003. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1993 graduating magna cum laude from Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN). After college graduation, Erin worked on various political campaigns and for elected officials in the Midwest; she worked in broadcast journalism in Washington DC; came back to San Diego and worked in University fundraising, event planning and marketing before starting law school.
Erin is a happy wife, a happy mother, and a happy attorney. She feels very blessed to be able to work with her father, sister and brother. She loves estate planning because of the clients, “Everyone has a great story to tell… and it’s not many areas of law where the attorney gets regular thank you hugs from her clients! You really feel like you’re providing a great service, whether it be in writing new trusts, handling trust administrations upon the death of a loved one, or even for a probate. Clients are relieved when the matter is handled with care, efficiency, and professionalism.”
Attorney Sarah J. Suiter joined the firm in early 2014. Sarah works primarily in drafting trust documents and consulting with clients to create the living trust most suitable for them. Sarah also handles trust administration and probate matters. Sarah is passionate about the area of estate planning and enjoys helping clients protect their assets for generations to come. “Being part of a practice area where you feel you are legitimately helping people is such a great feeling.”
Prior to joining the Law Office of David W. Foley, Sarah had a successful litigation practice focused in the area of Workers’ Compensation. Sarah also has experience in both employment law and tax law. Sarah originally moved to California from her hometown of Dallas, Texas to attend UCLA where she received her undergraduate degree. After college, Sarah gained legal experience in the insurance field in San Diego. She then returned to her hometown to attend law school at Southern Methodist University (SMU) on a Dean’s scholarship. Sarah was Articles Editor of the SMU Law Review and graduated cum laude. In her spare time, Sarah volunteers with Professional Alliance for Children and enjoys spending time with her growing family (baby number two is on the way).
Diane Brooks has been with the firm for over two years, acting as the chief legal assistant. Diane is the person you talk to when you call our office. She is the first point of contact for our new clients, sending you our information and questionnaire to get you started on your trust. She schedules the appointments, notarizes your trust and records your property into the trust name. Diane says, “I absolutely love working with The Foley’s and Attorney Sarah Suiter.
